Caring for the Caregiver

Description:

Caregivers often will feel depleted, stressed and burnt out.  Then factor in grief and life can be extremely difficult for the caregiver. Grief can be due to the fact the loved one has changed so much during the illness or because the life of the caregiver has had to change to meet the need of our loved one. With all of this weight on the caregiver, it can seem like it is just too much to handle.  We are so busy attending to our loved one with getting them to appointments, keeping up with medications, taking care of our loved ones, meeting the financial needs and the list goes on.  But if we don’t practice self care all of these tasks can take their toll on our health and make it harder to provide for our loved one.  There are many benefits to self care and there are many areas of self care.  The Caring for the Carer, a Statewide Online Charter Support Group of the Brain Injury Association of NC” and MossflowerAbbey Farm are offering a workshop for a day of learning some new tools for processing grief and peace.  This will be a time of personal and group interaction that we hope will be uplifting and insightful.
