Rest, Relax, and Reset

Day 18 – “Bridges, Kindness, and the Journey of Hope”

Today was a day of crossing bridges, including the iconic Seven Mile Bridge. As I approached it, I couldn’t help but wonder what it would be like to ride a bike across such an immense structure. The experience exceeded all expectations—it was breathtaking. The expansive views, the wind in my face, and the sheer scale of it all made the ride unforgettable. Was it worth it? Absolutely, without a doubt.Because of the many bridges and ongoing construction, I didn’t have the chance to meet as many people today. But I do want to take a moment to say “thank you” to a man named John. He was heading in the same direction as I was on a two-wheeler, and he passed me at one point. About a quarter mile later, I saw him stopped ahead, and I wondered if he had broken down.As I got closer, I realized the trail had suddenly ended—no signs, no markings—just a dead stop. John had already lifted his bike over the guardrail to continue on the roadside. When I arrived, he offered to help me lift mine as well, saving me from having to backtrack. We talked for a while, and it turned out he was from South Jersey—pretty close to where I first met my wife, Pat.So, thank you, John, for lending a helping hand just when I needed it most. Your kindness was a reminder that accepting help is an important part of the journey. One more day and I’ll be in Key West
