Spring is Here and the fun begins

Oh, spring time is such a delightful time of year. Projects that we have waited to start all winter are ready to begin. But before we get into what is happening at the farm this spring, I would like to share some exciting news on a workshop held here February 8th. The Caring for the Caregiver Support Group and MossflowerAbbey Farm held a workshop for caregivers.  The workshop focused on “Give Yourself the Grace to Grieve” presented by Sue Russell.  This was a wonderful time of learning and talking about the grief the caregiver may go through. The subject was a catapult for the attendees to share their challenges while caregiving to their loved ones. When the sessions were completed, the conversations continued. The participation was great and another workshop is scheduled for May 25th. The topic for the next workshop is “Caring Recovery: Remembering YOU”. This workshop will be led by Dr. Patrica (Kay) Reyna. You can get more information about the upcoming workshop at Events on the MossflowerAbbey Farm website. We will have a dinner the night before the workshop for the people staying overnight and the attendees of the workshop. It will be a great time to get to know other caregivers and just have an evening of relaxation.  We are so excited to be able to provide a location for workshops like this and we are trying to set up more. Stay tuned for future posts.
Now for what is happening this spring. The irrigation has been completed in the yard, so this year we will be adding plants and bushes to help enhance the beauty of the yard. Wall blocks are here and the completion of the flower beds around the patio will be completed. Wood has been ordered to start the pergola on the back patio (but they are having challenges getting the size lumber needed for the pergola). When it comes in we will put the first section up. We will be adding pathways from the patio to the fire pit this year and we will be adding lights around the fire pit to make it easier to use at night. Also we are adding an outdoor game area for guests.  We will start with are croquet, horseshoes, and corn hole. We also are putting up signs for parking to make it easier for visitors to know where to park. The orchard will have the irrigation completed by summer so we will be ready for hot dry weather this summer and still be able to get some apples from the more mature trees. As you can see, so much is happening this spring to make your visit more enjoyable. But even with all the work going on, the Farm offers a relaxing environment for your visit.
