There is much to see and do at the Farm and the surrounding area. Whether you want to take it easy, explore the outdoors, or participate in activities on the Farm, you will have a lot to do. Enjoy your stay at the farm or use it as a home for day trips to Charlotte and surrounding areas like Uwharrie State Park and much, much more

  • Reed Gold Mine: is the site of the first documented gold find in the United States. From this discovery, gold mining spread gradually to nearby counties and eventually into other southern states. Tours and panning for gold.
  • Gold Hill Historic Park With its first gold discovery in 1824, Gold Hill is considered one of today’s most charming and historic small towns in North Carolina. Gold Hill is home to numerous gold mines. The 850ft deep Randolph Mine and the 435ft deep Barnhardt Mine became two of the most famous and profitable gold mines in the southeast.
  • North Carolina Transportation Museum is a historic site, once home to Southern Railway’s largest steam locomotive repair facility in the southeast, and a museum featuring all types of transportation history – railroading, automotive, aviation, and more.
  • Unc Charlotte Botanical Gardens The University of North Carolina at Charlotte Botanical Gardens, sometimes called the Charlotte Botanical Gardens, are botanical gardens located at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
  • Nascar Hall of Fame where you can explore the legacies of the legends of our sport while immersing yourself in the excitement, passion and history of NASCAR through ever-evolving exhibits and interactive experiences.

Lakes, Hiking/Biking and Wildlife:

  • Uwharrie National Forest  offers trails for hikers, runners, bikers and even horseback riders.  Uwharrie also offers off-road vehicle trails.
  • Morrow Mountain State Park  Morrow Mountain State Park provides a myriad of adventures from the summit of the namesake mountain, along the banks of the Yadkin River State Trail, and to the shores of Lake Tillery. Hiking (37 miles), Horseback riding (19 miles), Paddling, Swimming pool (seasonal), Fishing, and Picnicking
  • Badin Lake is one of a series of lakes created by the damming of the Yadkin-Pee Dee River in the Uwharrie Lakes Region of the United States. A local waterway for anglers, boaters, swimmers, and picnickers.
  • Lake Norman, a focal point for hikers, anglers, hunters, boaters, swimmers, and picnickers. Hiking trails (38 miles), Biking (30.5 miles), Paddling, Swimming, Fishing and Picnicking.
  • Carolina Raptor Center Take a walk on the wild side at the Raptor Center. Get nose to beak with 35 species of birds, and bask in the beauty of nature on our 3/4 mile trail.
  • North Carolina Zoo celebrate nature. Being the world’s largest natural habitat zoo means the animals here have plenty of room to roam. The zoo’s dedicated team of experts provide exceptional, compassionate care to the more than 1,700 animals.

  • Charlotte Motor Speedway Host for NASCAR’s COCA-COLA 600 and BANK OF AMERICA ROVAL™ 400. Host for the Spring and Fall Auto Fair, and more events.
  • zMAX Dragway Host for CIRCLE K NHRA FOUR-WIDE NATIONALS and BETWAY NHRA CAROLINA NATIONALS
  • Piney Point Golf Club features rational greens, and there are few forced carries, with only four holes where out-of-bounds comes into play. Different pin positions keep it interesting.
  • Eagle Chase Golf Club layout features drastic elevation changes, giving players a mountain golfing experience
  • Warrior Golf Club where the terrain is rolling and the scenery is beautiful around the 52 acre Lake Wright. Each of the large Champions G 12 greens are unique in design and offer many different pin positions to test even the most avid golfer.
